My Story:

My journey to clean beauty began in my mid 20s. While living overseas, I developed cystic acne. I spent years desperate to clear up my skin, enduring harsh chemical treatments and overspending on acne meds and 'sure to cure' acne products.

Feeling frustrated with the lack of improvement in my skin, I took matters into my own hands and embarked on a strict food and product elimination diet removing wheat, dairy, sugar and all acidic foods from my diet. I purged my acne meds as well as all of my ‘miracle' skin creams replacing them with more ‘natural’ products and ingredients.

I made homemade yogurt to eat and cleanse my skin with. I created healing face masks with raw honey and incorporated alkaline-rich millet, quinoa, amaranth and kale - all foods that I had previously never even heard of, into my diet. All in the name of clearing up my acne.

To my surprise, my skin did improve. I discovered that you really are what you eat and that my diet was affecting my skin. I became fascinated with the complexities of the body systems and their effect on the condition of the skin and returned to school to study skin care.

While researching products and ingredients, I was shocked to discover that many of the supposedly ‘natural' skin care products that I was using actually contained ingredients that were compromising not supporting the health of my skin.  

I decided that I wanted to educate women about healthy beauty. I wanted to take out the overwhelm and guesswork and offer simple, results-oriented solutions.

In 2001, before organic was more hippy than hip, I founded ORESTA organic skin care: Ottawa's first organic spa and clean beauty boutique in the Glebe.

I am passionate about educating and empowering women to make healthy beauty choices offering holistic beauty treatments, techniques and clean beauty products.

I want to simplify clean beauty by curating a collection of clean beauty brands that I know, love and trust.  Products that I personally use and feel confident will support your skin in achieving the result you want, with ingredients we know, trust and love.
